Orchestral Director: Shabria RaY
Executive Director: Marcus R. Pyle
The ChamberWorks Youth Orchestra (CWYO) exists as an extension to the rigorous chamber music training of the ChamberWorks Summer Music Institute. CWYO is a conductor-less string orchestra that operates in the style of the acclaimed Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Participants in the ensemble are responsible for contributing to the stylistic, interpretive choices of the music. This model encourages and fosters leadership growth, methods of communication, and teamwork.
The CWYO program, which is open to all advanced string students through an audition process, trains students to master ensemble playing at a conservatory level by exposing them to challenging masterpieces within the classical canon. CWYO members participate in sectional rehearsals led by eminent performers and clinician-led rehearsals by esteemed musicians and pedagogues.
